What You Will Learn

Beginners Welcome! In this mini class you will explore the use of light and dark values within the visual arts and develop the skills to meaningfully utilize the element of value within the medium of drawing. Explore how other artists have used value. You’ll discover techniques to help you create a range of light and dark values within a value scale.

In drawing, a value scale is a system of organized values, typically ranging from white to black, with various shades of gray in between. It helps artists understand and control the lightness or darkness of their artwork, which is crucial for creating the illusion of three-dimensionality and depth.

No prior experience is necessary – just your enthusiasm!
