What You Will Learn

Turn any yard into a low-effort, thriving garden by matching plants to your soil, water flow, and microclimates. Healthy soil and smart water management are the foundation of every successful ecological system. Learn to evaluate site conditions, build healthy soil, capture rainwater, and select plants and plant groupings that succeed with minimal upkeep.

What you’ll learn:

  • Soil Basics: Test, amend, and improve your soil for optimal drainage and nutrients
  • Water Strategies: Group plants by moisture needs and utilize nature's water rhythm
  • Microclimates Demystified: Identify sun/shade/wind patterns and pick resilient plants
  • Plant Selection: Choose species that fit your site for pollinators, beauty, and ease of care

Course outcomes:

  • Create custom planting plans based on real soil tests and water patterns (Sun/Shade, drainage, and soil moisture of the site)
  • Build diverse, site-adapted gardens that need less watering and weeding
  • Gain confidence to transform challenging spots into productive ecosystems
