TIG Welding I Short Course

What You Will Learn

In this short and intense course the student will apply welding safety and develop skills in gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) processes. The student will learn to set up the GTAW Workstation correctly and safely. A review of power sources and polarities and filler metal identification will be made. Students will perform welding procedures in flat and horizontal positions with fillet and groove welds, and maintenance of GTAW equipment. Students will be required to purchase and use personal protective equipment (PPE). The following items are required:

Safety Glasses: Z87+ Mandatory at all times in the lab.
• Welding Helmet: Auto or Fixed lens shade#10
 FR Welding Jacket; Required when performing hot work and using the grind room.
Ear Protection: Ear plugs should be worn when excessive noise is present.
• Pants: Jeans or other Cotton work pants free of frays and holes.
Gloves: Leather-palmed gloves or insulated welding gloves when welding.
Leather Sleeves: Recommended for additional protection during welding.
Footwear: Steel toe/Safety boots are required.
