What You Will Learn

In this intensive program you will learn all aspects of phlebotomy and specimen collection. The program consists of two parts. Part I consists of fifteen classes covering the didactic and practice lab, where you will learn all aspects of phlebotomy in a healthcare setting, including collection procedures, safety guidelines, patient rights, test requirements, and equipment basics. Upon successful completion of this portion of the program, you will be advanced to Part II and complete the 100 hours, including 100 successful unaided venipuncture procedures performed on live individuals in a clinical setting during externship, which is required to sit for the national certification test from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). Completion of both Part I and Part II is mandatory for successful completion of this program.

To be successful in this program students must be able to communicate effectively in English (spoken and written) to support safe patient care during labs and the externship/clinical experience, including reading program materials, following instructions, and completing clinical documentation.

Acceptance to this program is by selective admission only. Applications can be found here: Phlebotomy Technician Certificate Program Application. A payment plan is available for this program. This course is not eligible for the Take 3 Discount.
