Course Description

speaking exercises, and by writing in-class essays. Students work individually, in pairs, and in
groups.

Course Objectives
Students will improve their knowledge, confidence, and use of English grammar. Each 8-week session
focuses on different chapters in the textbook.

Course Requirements for students:
Students in this class are typically business professionals. Students are expected to:
• Attend class regularly and arrive on time.
• Notify the teacher by email if you are not coming or will be late.
• Not text or check messages during class. Phones/tablets may be used for dictionary apps only.

Teaching Philosophy:
I have been teaching ESL/EFL to adults since 2002. I enjoy teaching very much but I also realize
that English can be a difficult language to learn. I do my best to:
• Select course materials that are relevant / useful.
• Provide students with many opportunities for active participation in each class.
• Establish a safe learning environment where students can feel comfortable asking questions and
making mistakes.
• Make learning a fun and enjoyable experience.

Disabilities Act (ADA) Compliance
Students with disabilities requesting accommodations should contact Access Services, Student
Center, 2nd floor, (913) 469-8500, ext. 3521, or TDD at (913) 469-3885.
