What You Will Learn

Build on what you learned in Spanish Immersion I and take your fluency to another level.  This course aims to enhance your Spanish language skills by focusing on practical communication skills in everyday situations. Each of the ten, two-hour class sessions will cover a different everyday situation, including: daily routines, food preferences and grocery shopping, describing places and giving directions, talking about past events, discussing your job and work environment, communicating about your health and seeing a doctor, sharing your favorite hobbies, and making future plans. 

Prerequisite: Spanish Immersion I or instructor approval

Session 1: Introduction to A2 Level Concepts.
- Objectives:
- Review basic expressions and personal introductions.
- Set course expectations and goals.
- Content:
- Warm-up activities: Icebreakers and self-introductions.
- Vocabulary: Family, professions, and hobbies.
- Grammar: Present tense of regular verbs.

Session 2: Daily Routines and Time
- Objectives:
- Learn to describe daily routines and tell time.
- Content:
- Vocabulary: Daily activities (e.g., wake up, work, eat).
- Grammar: Reflexive verbs and frequency adverbs.
- Practice: Describe your daily routine.

Session 3: Food and Shopping
- Objectives:
- Communicate about food preferences and shopping.
- Content:
- Vocabulary: Food items, shopping phrases.
- Grammar: Articles and quantity expressions.
- Role-play: Grocery shopping scenarios.

Session 4: Describing Places and Directions
- Objectives:
- Describe locations and give directions.

Session 5: Talking About the Past

Session 10: Review and Practical Application
- Objectives:
- Review all topics covered and practice conversational skills.
- Content:
- Group activities: Role-plays and simulations.
- Feedback session: Discuss strengths and areas for improvement.
- Final assessment: Simple dialogues covering various topics.

Assessment:
- Continuous assessment through participation and practical activities.
- Final conversational assessment to demonstrate proficiency in A2 level skills.
