Objectives for the Plumbing Prep course

This course is designed to assist students in the understanding and the interpretation of the current International Plumbing Code (IPC) and International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) and the minimum requirements for plumbing materials, installation and design.

Explain how the IPC code book addresses the regulatory codes for plumbing applications.
Explain how the IFGC code book addresses the regulatory codes for mechanical applications.
Describe the application process for becoming a licensed journeyman or master plumber.
Examine the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations as it applies to the HVAC career.
Calculate the roof drainage area for a building.
Calculate the water sizing requirements for a residential home.
Calculate the drain, waste and vent requirements for a residential home.
Calculate gas piping size requirements for a residential home.
Calculate combustion air size requirements for water heater and furnace.
Calculate flue size requirements for water heater and furnace.
