The “CRASH” Course in Mediation
What You Will Learn
“CRASH” represents five key elements in every mediation: Commitment to the process, Responsibility for oneself, Accountability to others, Satisfaction with the results, and Healing for all parties.
???????
During this brief course, mediator, ADR professional, and attorney participants will discuss and share each of the five elements in their professional experiences. Ethics is an ongoing thread throughout these five topics and will be connected to Rule 918 for Approved Individuals—specifically paragraphs on Competence, Quality of Process, Obligations to the DR Profession, Roles, and Self-determination.
Techniques will be offered and practiced for each element. Materials include a sample of a commitment pledge; the list of seven personal responsibilities; a decision-making model; a list of values and principles; a clarifying process tool; and guidelines for acknowledgment, apology, gratitude, forgiveness, and affirmation.
This course has been approved in Kansas for 3.5 CDRE hours and 3.5 CLE hours. This course has been approved in Missouri for 3.6 CLE hours, including .6 hours of Ethics.
This section is facilitated by an instructor online. Within 2 business days of the class start date, you will receive instructions about how to access the class online.
