What You Will Learn

Introduction to Welding introduces the student to the most common welding processes used today. The student will learn about how to work safely using welding equipment and materials, how to use tools of the trade and practice basic welding techniques. This is a fast-paced, hands-on course. Students will be required to purchase and use personal protective equipment (PPE). The following items are required:

  • Welding Helmet with #10 Lens
  • Welding Cap
  • Safety Glasses
  • Gloves
  • No tennis shoes or sandals. Must wear 6" lace-up ankle leather boots.
  • No shorts or short sleeves allowed in lab. Must wear jeans and cotton long sleeve shirt.

Certification

MIG Welding Certificate

The most common industrial welding process used in welding plate and large bore pipe. MIG (Metal Inert Gas) uses shielding gas along with an electrode which heats up the two metals to be joined.

The nation's aging infrastructure has sparked a demand for welders in industries such as, construction, manufacturing, and oil and gas. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics well-trained welders can make more than $66,000 per year. Our Welding Certificate can enhance your current career or position you to enter the workforce as a well-rounded welder or specialized in a singular process.

  • MIG Welding II Short Course

Stick Welding Certificate

Used to join many ferrous and non-ferrous metals, this welding process uses a welding rod (stick) usually coated with flux. The stick softens and combines metals by heating with an arc between a covered metal electrode and the base metal workpiece. As the stick melts, its protective cover also melts and shields the weld area from oxygen and other gases that may be in the air. Commonly used in industrial settings, construction, maintenance, and repair.

TIG Welding Certificate

Welding thick sections of stainless steel or non-ferrous metals is the most common use of this welding process. TIG Welding uses a consumable tungsten electrode to produce the weld, and in some cases hand-held welding rod is used for filler metal. This skill used in high quality applications such as aerospace takes a steady hand and trained eye to master.
